‘Abuse of Power’ First Look: Lauren Sivan Pulls Back the Curtain on ‘Master Manipulators’ (Exclusive)

What happens when power becomes more important than anything else, even life?

That’s the big question journalist Lauren Sivan poses in Oxygen’s new original series, Abuse of Power. ET has your exclusive first look at the show, which will examine twisted and true stories about people in positions of power. Each episode will feature emotional testimonials, never-before-seen interviews and dramatic reenactments to reveal the sordid details of some of the most notorious cases of exploitation in recent history.

“I am excited to work on a series that contributes to the larger conversation we are having right now, holding those in power accountable for their actions,” Sivan tells ET in a statement. “We are living in an unprecedented time of accountability and this series makes it a mission to peel back the curtain on cases where individuals exploited their positions to disastrous and shocking results.”

Sivan will also bring her own unique insight to these tales. The 40-year-old famously came forward last year with her own story, joining the dozens of women who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Weinstein has denied any wrongdoing.

Abuse of Power will examine cases including Warren Jeffs, the infamous school principal turned polygamist cult leader who found himself on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List and an Atlanta Sheriff who used his authority to orchestrate murder after losing an election to the incoming Sheriff-elect.

Abuse of Power is produced by Storyville Entertainment and Lucky 8 with Betsy Schechter, Kim Woodard, Greg Henry, Dahlia Damaghi and Mitchell Rosenbaum serving as executive producers. Abuse of Power premieres Saturday, May 12, at 7 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
