“As some of you may have heard, I got married this year,” the I Feel Pretty actress told the crowd to a round of cheers. “Sorry ladies, it’s been locked down.”
One of the things Schumer said she gets asked about the most is how being married is going to impact her comedy material.
“Some people are like, ‘What are you gonna talk about now in your stand-up? All you talked about was getting railed,'” Schumer, 36 joked. “But it’s true. I’m a little sad I’m never gonna get a ‘you up?’ text again. It’s not like they were rolling in, but it was nice to know someone was thinking about me.”
The outspoken comic also shared her memories of how Fischer popped the question.
“The way that my now husband proposed was so worthless,” Schumer recalled with mock emotion. “It was such a dumb proposal. It was the morning, I was still asleep. He threw the box at me and said, ‘I got you this.'”
However, Schumer commended him for his “realistic proposal,” unlike those seen in movies and TV shows.
“It’s always a guy getting down on one knee and the girl is always shocked, you know? She’s always like, ‘AAhhhh! I didn’t even know you liked me!’ Really, you’re gonna spend your life with this dude and you didn’t even know he liked you?” she joked.
She also admitted that she was happy to be done with dating, explaining, “I do feel different. I’m done. I don’t ever have to zip my knee boots up and leave a dude’s place at 4 a.m. that has, like a Rottweiler.”
