The 36-year-old Suits actress will marry Prince Harry on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in front of the royal family, friends, and thousands of people watching all across the globe, who will be anxiously waiting to see the bride’s gown.
The actress is reportedly wearing two gowns, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. But the real question is, who are Ralph and Russo? ET is rounding up everything you need to know about the design duo, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, and their namesake label.
1. Who are they?
Founded in 2007 by real-life Australian couple Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, the atelier is based in London and has been designing extravagant and detailed wedding dresses and gowns for the past 11 years. Tamara serves as the brand’s Creative Director and oversees the atelier, while Michael handles the business side.
2. They started small.
The two started their label out of a tiny London office, with just one computer and a mannequin. By 2013, they made it on Fortune‘s 40 Under 40 list and have been top contenders in the fashion industry ever since.
3. Celebrities love them.
Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Bella Hadid, Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow are just a handful of A-listers who have rocked their designs on red carpets and galas.
4. Their wedding gowns are iconic.
In 2016, during their spring couture show, Ralph & Russo featured one of the biggest wedding gowns in history. Isabeli Fontana closed the show with this stunning design, which took a team of five women to help the model turn the dress on the runway. The design took 6,000 hours and 50 people to create.
5. The more embellishment, the better.
Ralph & Russo is known for their intricate details, hand embroidery, beading, use of feathers, 3D florals, lace and crystals and more. Their creations are works of art that requited hundreds of hours of manpower to create.
According to Vanity Fair,Meghan will reportedly walk down the aisle in a “hand-stitched, heavily beaded design” that is more traditional and classic. However, she plans to wear a “glamorous, more sophisticated dress for the evening,” according to royal expert Katie Nicholl.
6. The couple has stayed mum about their involvement in the royal wedding.
Adding fuel to the fire, a spokesperson from Ralph & Russo coyly said in a statement, “we will be politely declining to comment on this topic,” when asked for comment on the brand’s involvement in Meghan’s dress.
7. Queen Elizabeth approves!
In 2014, Angelina Jolie met Her Majesty in a Ralph & Russo skirt suit from the label’s spring/summer 2014 collection as she collected her honorary damehood. The actress requested that the two-piece be remade in a subtle dove grey. The Queen is reportedly taking a look at Meghan’s dress this week or possibly the next.
As we await to see what Meghan will wear, check out more on what to expect from the big day in the video below. Keep up with ET’s royal wedding coverage as we count down to May 19!
