As Stranger Things is gearing up to start production on the show’s third season, the young cast members have all gotten to know each other closely and become like family — which apparently means they sometimes bicker like family too.
Nearly the entire cast came together for a panel discussion at the Paley Center For Media’s 35th Annual PaleyFest at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, where Caleb McLaughlin and Millie Bobby Brown opened up about the stars’ ever-evolving friendships.
“Once we first met each other I think we were all very outgoing. So it was just easy to connect,” explained McLaughlin, who stars as Lucas Sinclair on the Netflix fantasy horror series. “It wasn’t actually hard.”
“It was like a relationship actually, because it felt like we went through a honeymoon stage,” added Brown, who stars as the young physic, Eleven. “We would be, like, really nice to each other. We didn’t want to do anything that would hurt each other’s feelings.”
“Now it’s different,” McLaughlin, 16, added.
“Now it’s SO different,” Brown, 14, agreed, laughing. “We are actually siblings. We argue all the time.”
“I wouldn’t say all the time,” McLaughlin argued.
“Yeah! We do!” Brown shot back, eliciting a laugh from the audience. However, she admitted that the arguments are all over little frivolous things like, “Why are you eating my chips?”
“It’s little remote control arguments,” McLaughlin added.
However, for Sadie Sink — who joined the cast in season two playing the tough, quiet new girl in class, Max — she hasn’t quite joined in on the fighting.
“Sadie doesn’t argue though!” Brown exclaimed, laughing. “She’s like, ‘Guys, everybody calm down.'”
However, with season three looming on the distant horizon, it looks like Sink will have a chance to forge an even closer bond with her co-stars when production kicks off — which director Shawn Levy should be just weeks from now.
“I’ll get in so much trouble. I can’t say much,” Levy shared when asked about the upcoming season. “But we are going back to work next month and we’re super excited.”
