Channing Tatum and James Corden Are Ready to Team Up for 'Carpool Karaoke' — With a Twist! (Exclusive)

Channing Tatum and James Corden have plans for a new take on the “Carpool Karaoke” formula that might just shake things up.

The stars sat down with ET’s Nischelle Turner while promoting their upcoming animated family comedy, Smallfoot, and jokingly dished on the unique take on the popular Late Late Show segment they’d like to bring to the table.

“I wanna do the first carpool dance,” Tatum said.

“‘Dance-pool Karaoke,'” Corden said, riffing on possible names for the new version of the sketch.

“I wanna tip the car over, I’m dancing so hard,” Tatum added.

The actor has long been known for his love of dance. Kicking off with his breakthrough role in 2006’s Step Up, the 38-year-old star has displayed his talent for fancy footwork numerous times in movies like Magic Mike and Hail, Caesar!

Given that, Corden said he only saw one problem with the “Dance-Pool Karaoke” plan — despite his extensive background in musical theater, he might have trouble keeping up.

“I can’t dance like this guy,” Corden explained.

Here’s hoping Tatum and Corden manage to take a ride together in the Carpool Karaoke SUV one way or another.

In the meantime, the pair are currently starring in Smallfoot, an animated family comedy that tells the story of a Yeti named Migo (Tatum), who discovers that the illusive creature known as the “smallfoot” – a.k.a. a human –  might be more than just a myth.

Tatum — who has previously done some great voice acting work in films like The Book of Life and The LEGO Movie — said his 5-year-old daughter, Everly, really connected with his character because of how much of himself Tatum brought to the role.

“I’m very silly in this movie and that’s basically how I am with her, so she really, really identified with it,” explained the actor, who said his little girl recognized his voice in the movie right away.

However, that doesn’t mean she was necessarily impressed by her dad being on the big screen. In fact, Tatum — who shares his little girl with ex Jenna Dewan — said his daughter “just doesn’t like any of my movies at all.”

“She doesn’t think they’re real movies,” he added with a laugh.

As for Corden — who shares three children with wife Julia Carey: 7-year-old son Max, 3-year-old daughter Carey, and 3-month-old daughter Charlotte — he said his children “really enjoyed” the film and its message of not judging a book by its cover and embracing people for their differences.

“They absolutely loved it,” Corden shared. “My son, who’s seven, was really taken with it and had lots of questions afterwards and they were good questions, they’re the right questions that you want kids to ask after the film.”

Smallfoot — which also features the vocal talents of Zendaya, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito, Common, LeBron James and Yara Shahidi — hits theaters Sept 28.

Christina Aguilera Reveals Ryan Gosling's 'Mickey Mouse Club' Crush on 'Carpool Karaoke'

Christina Aguilera joined James Corden for his second annual Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, where the pop icon belted some of her biggest hits, taught Corden how to pull off her famed vocal flourishes, and also dished on some decades-old gossip.

In between some really amazing renditions of her hit songs like “Fighter” and “Genie in a Bottle,” the 37-year-old singer also answered some of Corden’s questions about her time as a Mouseketeer in The Mickey Mouse Club, alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling.

“Even then, at that age, could you find yourself get lost in Ryan Gosling’s eyes?” Corden asked.

“I think there were crushes, but I wasn’t on that train,” Aguilera recalled.

Corden pressed her again about the on-set crushes that occurred on the set, asking her if she instead had a crush on Timberlake, and her hilariously flustered response spoke louder than a coherent sentence ever could have.

“Um, I think, well there was like a — me and Britney were, you know, like… well, you know, there was like a thing back then,” she rambled, trying to figure out how to best avoid any possible delicate topics. “Oh my god, you’re going in!”

Ultimately, Aguilera simply said, “It was a good time.”

“Are we saying Timberlake was the main dude in the MMC?” Corden asked.

“He had swag, I have to say,” she said. “[Even] back then, he had swag.”

As for Gosling, the pop star said that, while many girls had a crush on him, his heart was reserved for one castmate in particular.

“I know Ryan actually, pretty much, he did have actually have a crush on Britney,” she coyly admitted. “I mean, I think so! I think so. I don’t know…”

“She must be regretting that,” Corden quipped.

“No! She got Justin!” Aguilera argued. “They were like a big ol’ couple.”

“Oh, yeah,  you’re right, that worked out wonderfully,” Corden shot back sarcastically. “It worked out wonderfully for everybody!”

Later in the episode, the pair were joined by Melissa McCarthy, who surprised them by popping up from the back of Corden’s SUV to sing Redman’s verse in Aguilera’s hit single “Dirrty.”

The A-list comedian — who appears with Aguilera in the upcoming comedy Life of the Party — also took a few singing lessons from the superstar, alongside Corden, which only went to show how truly amazing Aguilera really is.

Earlier in the Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, Corden debuted a brand new installment of his popular recurring sketch “Crosswalk Musical,” where he and his team of street-walking thespians staged a production of The Sound of Music.

To make the production as grand as possible — given his special spot in primetime — Corden got a few very special guest stars to help him pull it off, including The Big Bang Theory‘s Kunal Nayyar, Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage, Mom star Anna Faris, and Faris’ Oscar-winning co-star Allison Janney.

From Corden and Janney fighting over who should get to play Maria, to Armitage walking off set and Faris adorably acting as a voice of reason trying to keep the troubled musical production afloat, this was easily one of the funniest “Crosswalk Musical” segments ever.

Check out the video below for a look at some of Corden’s other amazing “Carpool Karaoke” adventures.

Sam Smith Adorably Fans Out When Fifth Harmony Surprises Him in Awesome New 'Carpool Karaoke'

To celebrate Smith’s self-proclaimed status as a “Harmonizer,” the two broke out into a karaoke cover of their hit single “Work From Home,” but it only lasted a few moments before Corden said he just wasn’t feeling it.

Pulling over to the side of the road, Corden pulled out his cellphone and called an unknown number. Speaking to the person on the other end of the line, Corden explained that he and Smith were singing “Work From Home,” but he felt “it could be elevated somehow.”

Smith, who was confused when Corden pulled over, suddenly shot Corden a very dubious look, and, as the girls of Fifth Harmony ran up and hopped into the backseat, the legitimately surprised pop star completely lost his cool.

“Oh I’m dead! No! Oh my god!” Smith screamed as he first tried to hide in his seat and then excitedly gave out hugs. “I’m shaking. I’m actually shaking. Oh my god, this is my dream!”

EXCLUSIVE: James Corden Reveals His Favorite 'Carpool Karaoke' Ever: 'I Got a Bit Depressed Afterwards'

James Corden has gotten plenty of A-list guests to star in his “Carpool Karaoke” segment with him, but only one experience trumps them all.

ET spoke with The Late Late Show host on Monday night at the Carpool Karaoke: The Series Party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where he talked about the stunning success of the segment, which now has its own Apple Music spinoff series. Corden said that while he couldn’t pick a favorite installment, he did have the best time with Bruno Mars.

“I mean, it’s a bit like picking your children, you know what I mean?” he joked to ET’s Kevin Frazier. “But in terms of the one I’ve enjoyed doing the most, I think it was probably Bruno. Like, I really, I got a bit depressed afterwards … Because I’d been looking forward to it for so long and I’m such a fan. When we were done, I was like, ‘Oh. I’m not gonna get to do that again,’ you know, and so that was incredible.”

As for his favorite guest on his new series, Corden teases a few incredible episodes. Aside from Corden’s appearances, hosting duties on the 16-episode series will actually also be split between different celebrities. New episodes stream Tuesdays on Apple Music.

“I’ve done the first one with Will Smith, which is just a dream for me,” he said. “And the last episode is me and LeBron James, which is a really amazing episode. It starts in an empty Staples Center and ends with a huge, huge ending to the series.”

“But in terms of the ones that I really love, I really enjoyed the whole Cyrus family,” he continued. “So, it’s Miley, Noah, Billy Ray — everybody — all of them in a huge car. It’s really quite amazing. You really feel like you’re watching that family on a road trip, you know? And then Billy [singing] Metallica is hilarious. There’s so many. I’m so proud of it.”

Corden, 38, also talked about expecting his third child with his wife, Julia, who’s due in December. The couple is already parents to their 6-year-old son, Max, and their 2-year-old daughter, Carey.

“He’s doing good,” Corden replied when asked about the baby.

“I thought we were out at two and then actually, you know, you forget about that first year pretty quick and then I don’t know,” he added about becoming a family of five. “I’m trying to explain it because lots of my buddies are going, ‘Dude, are you mad? What are you doing?’ And I sort of go, well, the two that we’ve met, you wouldn’t think this but I think they’re the best people on the planet. So, I’m like, they’re the best people I’ve ever met, so I want to meet another one, you know? I’m excited.”

As for his show’s recent Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Corden says he’s actually not competitive with the competition.

“Genuinely, if anything, the opposite,” he said. “Everybody sends each other gifts. We had ice cream sent to us from the Stephen Colbert show and we sent everybody popsicles. Look, I’m thrilled to be nominated again. It’s so lovely and so terrific for our show. Like, we’re a small show. We have a small team, but I feel like we try and punch up above our weight as best as we can.”

'Carpool Karaoke': New Trailer Shows Will Smith Crashing a Wedding, Stark Sisters, the Cyrus Family and More!

Every celebrity ever is in the new Carpool Karaoke trailer.

James Corden’s new Apple Music-bound spinoff series got a fun, star-studded teaser on Monday, where everyone from the Cyrus family, to LeBron James, to “Stark sisters” Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, get behind the wheel and sing some classic tunes. The whole thing is set to Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again.”

EXCLUSIVE: James Corden Opens Up About Baby No. 3, Emmy Noms and New ‘Carpool Karaoke!’

The trailer also shows that the show will get stars out of the car a bit! Some notable moments include Will Smith crashing a wedding, Williams and Turner riding a mechanical dragon — a nice Game of Thrones twist on the old bull concept — and James and Corden letting it all go up in flames.

Watch the trailer below to see the exciting (and extensive!) list of stars who will be popping up on the show.

Many of the moments from the new spot were also teased in the first trailer back in February, but since then, filming has continued and many other stars have come along for the ride.

On a sad note, Linkin Park filmed a segment for the show with comedian Ken Jeong just days before the band’s singer, Chester Bennington, committed suicide last week. None of the band’s scenes appear in the new trailer, and there is no word on whether the band’s segment will eventually air.

Meanwhile, ET caught up with Corden at the premiere of his new film, The Emoji Movie, earlier this month, where the Late Late Show host teased upcoming co-stars in Carpool sketches, including Usher, and — hopefully — Christina Aguilera.
