Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 3.33 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.97 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.94 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.51 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 1.29 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 0.42 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.36 per cent up at 47732.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 256.35 points at 21182.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 929.6 points at 70514.2.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Renewable and HUDCO were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Tera Software, Cyber Media Ltd, Patel Integrat, Onward Tech and IL&FS Invest hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Bohra Industries, Raj Rayon, Winsome Yarns, Shivalik Rasayan and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
