Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 3.74 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(up 2.37 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.82 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 0.87 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 1.41 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.49 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.42 per cent down at 44399.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 109.55 points at 19528.75, while the BSE Sensex stood down 316.31 points at 65512.1.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 ended in the green, while 37 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, JP Power, JSW Infrastructure and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Tarmat Ltd, Metro Brands, Cords Cable Ind, Filatex India and HLV Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while ideaForge Technology, FutureLifestyleFash, Ratnaveer Precision, PowerGrid Infa InvIT and Adani Gas hit their fresh 52-week lows.
